A great player and seems like a very nice guy.

He's not articulate, but I couldn't care less. He literally is music personified, music is what he is made of, so he really only speaks by playing. But man I would love to hear from him what is life was like up to age 11 -- how the heck did he get that good at such a young age.

Just discovered Christian's music. Such a mature playing style. My ears are already hooked to his sound and I'm excited for what he'll bring in the years ahead. Thanks for posting this interview.

Good conversation which triggered many memories - of WSAY and the rotating DJ's - different guys but the alliterative names stayed the same: Bob Bell, Jerry Jack, Mike Melody. Then of course there was WBBF - 95 on the dial and THE place to tune in if you wanted to be a cool kid - as Ferdie Smith certainly was. Then they brought in the "Honeybee", Jessica Savitch and it was so unusual to hear a woman's voice in this capacity. Her career shot to the top nationally, only to end bizarrely and tragically. The Invictas, the Rustics, all the good local bands of that great era - and the places we went to to dance and hear them play: Guys and Dolls, The Grange, The Varsity Inn (VI). I was in one of those early AM classes at Fisher - ca. 1966-1967, I think it was Father Perry - Political Science - and not a little in awe of Ferdinand J. Smith. Hear his distinctive voice often and everywhere since then.

Wow. Legendary jazz-rock fusion band approaching its 50TH YEAR next year in 2024 as an onstage live+touring unit! Even with the lockdown, though Spyro Gyra was off the road for a total of 17-18 months, since 1974 Spyro Gyra has never had a calendar year where they did NOT play live concerts onstage. Is that the legendary virtuoso now retired longtime sound engineer non parent NEIL STADTMILLER emerging from the hospitality trailer Green Room in the background, along with Julio Fernandez Scott Ambush???

I'll be 76 soon and I LIVED during The Righteous Brothers heyday. Drove my '61 Dodge with my right arm around my girl and AM radio WBBF Rochester's own Ferdinand J. Smith spinnin' the tunes. Empire Drive-In right next to the bowling alley. Don and Bob's for the best burgers on Lake Ontario by The Bay inlet. OMG.
